months ago I was approached about doing a project concerning the transformation
of a guitar into a work of art. After considerable thought and discussion
I accepted the job that ended up taking over 4 months to complete. The result
of which is a construct of wood, plastic, welded steel, copper, machine parts,
resin, as well as various paints and lacquers to create one of the more unique
musical instruments in the rock and roll arena. The work is 58 inches in length
and weighs over 22 pounds. While this piece was created solely for visual
display, the guitar is completely functional. The title of the piece is “Securis
of Venator”, Latin for “Axe of the Hunter”.
